Wilmer D. Jones, 82, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Indian Path Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
Born in Lynchburg, VA, she had resided most of her life in Kingsport. Wilmer was a graduate of Clearwater High School in Tampa, Florida. She was a salesperson at J C Penney in Kingsport for many years, enjoyed traveling and was an avid UT Vols sports fan.
Mrs. Jones was a member of Oakwood Forest Christian Church where she had taught Sunday School for many years and sang in the choir.
Her husband, Earl Jones; parents, Robie and Elizabeth Dickerson; stepparents, Avery and Patsy Dalton; and brother, Thomas Walker preceded her in death.
Surviving are her sons, Michael S. Jones and wife, Nancy of Knoxville and Ronnie A. Jones of Kingsport; four grandchildren, Rebecca Grace Jones, Sarah Hope Jones, Sean Earl Jones, and Dylan Forrest Jones; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Shirley Donnell of Gray, TN.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Oakwood Forest Christian Church with Marlin S. Jaynes Jr., Minister and Ed Clevinger, Minister officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service in the fellowship hall of the church.
There will be a private family graveside service at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
