Winnie Louise Chase Holder

Winnie Louise Chase Holder, 78, of Kingsport, a resident of Madison House, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday May 15, 2016 at Indian Path Medical Center following a period of declining health.

Born in Sullivan County, TN on April 10, 1938, a daughter of the late R. C. "Doc" and Bessie Chase, she has resided in this area her entire life. She was a member of Rock Springs United Methodist Church. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mom, mamaw, sister, aunt and friend who loved to play bingo and have her nails done.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to staff of Madison House for the love and care they provided over the last four years and Susie of Advanced Home Care for her compassion, caring, and friendship, also the staff of Indian Path Medical Center, ICU and Fifth Floor.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, the Rev. Harold Holder; five sisters, Kathleen Chase, Frances (Eugene) Ward, Marie Chase, Polly (Hubert) Quillen and Carrie (Junior) Williams; one brother, James (Lois) Chase; brother-in-law, Raymond Strickler; and special friend, Jo Birmingham.

Survivors include two daughters, Debra Sams and husband, Roger of Kingsport and Starla Johnson of Church Hill; grandson, Joey Johnson; two sisters, Margaret Strickler and Zalia Crussell and husband, Paul of Kingsport; one brother-in-law, Herman Holder and wife, JoAnn of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Shirley Babb, Lindsey Osborne and Clare Diehl.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport and at other hours at the residence of Starla Johnson.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00am, Friday, May 20, 2016 at East Lawn Memorial Park. Brother Charles G. Scott and Pastor Raymond Hammonds will officiate. Those attending committal services are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. Friday.
